when we get talking and thinking, ideas sometimes turn themselves into events, film or, on occasion, objects. These are a few of the things we have collaborated on.
CIRCLE 2014 DOLLHEADS 2014 HANDS ON
CIRCLE 2014
This was a group event led by us.
Installation, footware variable dimensions. The boots and shoes placed by members of Dumfries and Galloway Fine Art Society members represent a trace of their bodies. This installation is a record of one of the group’s interactive experiences.
Dollheads 2014
Group event led by us.
Performance
4 people, paper masks and a background panel displaying a height scale.
3 x 2 x 0.7m variable
4 performers with printed doll heads appear against an identity parade panel. A piece performed by and for Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society members on the 14th November 2014 at Gracefield Arts Centre. Each participant’s face was concealed by male or female doll-type masks. The work raises questions about gender and identity.
HAND ARRAY
Media: prints on acetate, suspended on acrylic rod
Scale: 100 x 50 cms
records an event which took place during the opening of our new studio in January 2014.
We we scanned our visitors’ hands and printed them on acetate. The prints were then arrayed on the studio wall. See the film that is a partner piece to this called “Hands on”.
HANDCLAP CARD
Media: sound card and acetate print
Size: A5 card
this card was given to each of the participants in the “hands on” event. Each person’s hand print was attached to the card and when it was opened, the card played the sound of applause pre-recorded by the artists. An inscription inside thanked the participant for their part in making it happen.
GIFT
Media: styrene, confectionery, mdf, steel, plastic and paint.
An enigmatic object, with coloured sweets on one side, and holes with coloured rims on the other. The implication is that the sweets should be “gifted” by posting them in the holes, but the colours on each side do not correspond, and the sweets are unavailable beneath their perspex shield.
